Since its foundation in 1325, Mexico City has been known for a grandeur that encompasses not only centuries of change, but also an extension that goes beyond its territorial boundaries to include ancient towns and cities that have sprung up from nowhere.

Mexico City, home to 20 million people today, was built on an ancient dry lakebed. Mexico's pre-Hispanic past is expressed in one of the most awe inspiring of its ancient cities only a few miles away: the sacred city of Teotihuacán.

Like a giant mosaic, each of the cities main sectors abounds with archaeological sites, colonial period, decimonónicos and contemporary buildings and excellent museums and cultural centers, sometimes housed in aged and slap-dash constructed structures.

The core of the city is a dense microcosm of artistic, structural and human expression filled with fascinating shops and excellent restaurants.

Like any good Latin American city, Mexico City teems with a nightlife that stretches into dawn in a huge variety of unique nightclubs, dance halls and discotheques that cater to every taste in music.
